Contact Jack's Caretaker/Foster Directly: Alicia DeBoe (caretoadopt8@gmail.com)
Jack and Toby (also listed on CARE's website) came to us when sadly their original owner passed away and her family couldn't give them the care they needed. Unfortunately they have been in four different homes since then about 2 years ago which is taking a toll on them. We are trying to find the best forever home for these guys.
Jack and Toby are a special bonded pair, they have been together since Jack was hatched, and will only be adopted out together. Even though Jack and Toby are bonded they require their own cages, like any brothers they will get aggravated with each other and fight. Even though they must have separate cages they must be in the same room if they cant interact with each other they get stressed, they mutilate themselves, and tend to become very vocal and loud. As you can see from Jacks pictures he has been plucking his feathers which was caused by many factors. Jack just had his annual vet exam in October. His foster mom is working on bonding with him and getting him back to the happy, beautiful bird that he is. Jack has improved greatly since coming to his foster mom and is looking better every day. Jack is happiest when outside of his cage there for he gets a lot of time outside his cage and he loves every minute of it. Jack has a wide vocabulary to include some not so appropriate words for children (we are not sure where he picked up his colorful vocabulary). A few things Jack loves to do is dance with his human, watch TV, and climb. Jack is a funny bird he makes his foster mom laugh on a daily basis and as he gets more comfortable in his home he displays more of his true personality which is delightful to say the least. Jack and Toby will need to be adopted to someone with large bird experience who has the knowledge and patience to work with these boys. The adopter must also be able to provide the adequate cages that these boys require. These boys require a lot of room for their cages and daily exercise. Please be aware that adopting a bird is a life long commitment Macaws can live up to 60 years and Jack is only 9 years old so he still has a very long life ahead of him. The adoption fee for Jack and Toby is $550 for the bonded pair. Due to the hard life these boys have had we will be very selective for their adoption. We just want these boys to go to a home where they will be well taken care of, loved and most importantly never have to be rehomed again, they deserve it! The rescue does NOT have cages to send with these boys, the adopter will be required to provide them. Jack must be adopted with his companion, Toby (adopted).
