American Guinea Pig
Meet Beckett! This cutie was bonded with Declan, his brother, but we have recently had to separate them. Sometimes foster care can be stressful at times and add strain to bonded pairs (staff cleaning cages, adopters coming to look, etc.). Mostly likely it was puberty that caused the strain. Declan has since started bonding with Shamrock & Jackson. Beckett has a fairly dominant personality with other piggies. He is best suited as a single guinea pig or he needs to find the right match and have a slow/lengthy bonding process. All guinea pigs are fed high quality Oxbow Guinea Pig pellets (timothy based for adults), variety of grass hays and veggies, some fruit. Vitamin C must be given fresh daily (we use Oasis Multi-vitamin with HIGH vit C in water bottles). We primarily use grass hays, aspen bedding or paper bedding (helps reduce allergens for those of us who suffer from allergies). We do not neuter guinea pigs due to risk factors.
