We adore this fellow! You simply must meet Bones to see for yourself. He will charm you and soothe your soul with those pure, soft, big brown eyes!

Bones was surrendered to a local kill shelter by his previous owners because they could no longer afford to care for him. He was and should be a house dog, but we currently only have an outside foster home for him. So, it was either a large covered pen with a doghouse & hay enclosed in plastic, plus exercise in a large fenced yard daily, or be euthanized. Bones and Arianna (a semi-feral dog also listed for adoption) became fast friends!

He is super sweet, well mannered, and doesn't have a mean bone in his body! He loves other dogs and food, but he has no problem sharing. He knows many commands such as sit, stay, down, shake, and more. We believe he may be fine with cats, probably housetrained, but we are unable to evaluate at this time (will be shortly).

Bones, unfortunately, was not on heartworm prevention. He is heartworm positive, but the medicine he needs to kill them is on a manufacturer backorder. Bones is on the wait list for heartworm treatment and it's expected to take place in February or March. He is fully vetted and healthy otherwise (no signs of heartworm disease at this time), so no reason for him to wait to find a permanent home. CARE will still provide his heartworm treatment when the product becomes available (adoption fee is set at $150, nothing extra required for treatment, but treatment must be done through our local Vet). In the meantime, he has been put on prevention which will keep him from getting any more heartworms.

If you are looking for an inside dog with personality, great manners, intelligence, and above all a devoted loving companion - this boy is the one!

All dogs receive a distemper/parvovirus vaccine(s), kennel cough vaccine, rabies vaccine, dewormer, monthly heartworm prevention, microchip, and are spayed/neutered through CARE.
